The International Criminal Court "strongly" rejected the new US sanctions imposed by the administration of President Donald Trump, stressing that their aim is to disrupt its work and intimidate its workers and collaborators.
The court considered that the American decision represents “an attack on the rule of law and on the fundamental foundations of the international legal system,” stressing that the issue is not related to defending a single institution, but rather to protecting the entire international system.
The court called on member states to take concrete measures to ensure their ability to continue their work, stressing that sanctions will not deter them from performing their duties.
