Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa affirmed on Wednesday that the Golan will remain Syrian land. He pointed out that "no attempts to impose a fait accompli can affect the legitimacy of our state, the sovereignty of our law, and the enforcement of international law, as the Golan will remain Syrian land." Al-Sharaa stressed that "all annexation measures are null and void by virtue of Security Council Resolution 497," issued in 1981, which considered Israel's decision to annex territories in the Syrian plateau null and void. Al-Sharaa demanded that Israel withdraw from Syrian territories, pointing out that it continues its incursions, raids, and attacks on Syrian territories. Al-Sharaa affirmed that Syria "is transitioning from a crisis tossed about by states into an opportunity that states gather around."
