The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held constructive consultations with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Tehran, focusing on the importance of reaching arrangements that allow the two countries to resume safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, in a way that preserves their sovereignty and sovereign rights. She explained that the two ministers discussed a phased framework that provides a practical and implementable basis in light of the current conditions in the Strait and the repercussions of the recent war. The proposed framework includes establishing a joint temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to implementing a joint project to clear the strait of mines. The Omani Foreign Minister stressed that the issue of future management of the Strait and reaching a permanent solution will be discussed at a later stage, in accordance with Article Five of the Islamabad Memorandum.
