Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel said that "Lebanon is facing a pivotal phase that cannot end with a return to the pre-crisis period," pointing out that "getting out of it requires final decisions that re-establish the state as the sole authority, foremost among which is resolving the issue of weapons outside the state and building a capable state that protects its citizens and safeguards its sovereignty and decision-making." Gemayel stressed that "the presence of weapons outside state institutions is no longer an issue that can be delayed." Gemayel considered that "the continuation of weapons outside the state entrenches the logic of wars and threatens the future of the youth. Speaking during the annual dinner of the Central Sector in the Northern Matn region, Gemayel said: "Lebanon cannot continue to postpone its fundamental problems or defer them to future generations after all it has been through," pointing out that "what is required today is to resolve the issue of weapons and national decision-making, so that the state becomes the sole authority over all Lebanese territory." Gemayel affirmed that "the state that the Lebanese want is a state of institutions, the army, the judiciary, the constitution, and the law," asking: "What army in the world would accept that there is another weapon alongside it, with different legitimacy, controlling certain areas, and imposing its authority while the army is present?" He called for "the Lebanese Army to restore its role as the army of all Lebanon, and for the state to be the sole authority over all Lebanese territory," stressing that "resolving the issue of weapons is not merely a security matter, but a fundamental condition for restoring the Lebanese citizen's confidence in their state and securing their future." Gemayel concluded by calling for the current war to be "the final page of wars and crises, and for Lebanon to enter a new phase whose titles are peace, prosperity, and openness, under the umbrella of a single state, a single weapon, and a single national decision."
