Within the framework of an investigation conducted by the State Security Office in the Port of Beirut, under the supervision of the Financial Public Prosecution, regarding suspicion of tax evasion carried out by commercial companies, preliminary investigations revealed the presence of violations in one of the companies dealing in the trade of medical equipment. The information indicated that the violations include changing the country of origin, tampering with the expiration dates of some medical instruments, and selling imported medical instruments without conducting the necessary analyzes to ensure their compliance with the medical specifications approved in Lebanon. Investigations also showed that the company re-cleans, washes and packages medical tools used in hospitals, then sells them as new. Subsequently, a State Security patrol raided the company’s warehouses in the district of Shananair - Keserwan, where 11 Lebanese employees and a Syrian worker were arrested. The warehouse was sealed with red wax, and the investigation is underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
