The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that it “began, as part of its plan to develop consular services, and in coordination with the General Directorate of Public Security, to equip Lebanese diplomatic and consular missions abroad with the necessary equipment and systems to adopt the biometric fingerprint service to issue biometric passports directly at embassies and consulates.” She explained that "the first phase of the project was launched by the Embassy of the Lebanese Republic in the State of Kuwait, which became the first Lebanese diplomatic mission abroad to adopt this system, provided that the preparation of the remaining missions will be completed successively according to a specific timetable, allowing Lebanese citizens residing abroad to complete their transactions easily and quickly, and without the need to come to Lebanon to complete the biometric fingerprint procedures." She pointed out that "this project comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts to simplify procedures, promote digital transformation, and improve the quality of consular services, in line with the highest standards of security and technology in issuing travel documents." The Ministry called on citizens to "follow the announcements of Lebanese embassies and consulates to know the dates for the start of this system in each mission, and the procedures and documents required to submit applications for biometric passports."
