The Arab Republic of Egypt called on the United States and Iran to “seize the opportunity to conclude an agreement that ends the war,” after US President Donald Trump backed down from his threat to launch strikes on Tehran, according to Agence France-Presse. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement last Thursday night: “Egypt appreciates what US President Donald Trump announced about canceling the military strikes that were scheduled to be carried out against Iran this evening,” expressing “its aspiration that the available opportunity will be seized to reach an agreement on various outstanding issues and create the atmosphere to reach an end to the war and begin a new phase of regional stability.”
