Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa affirmed “standing alongside the Lebanese state, which is leading its approach to the issues raised in the negotiations, in order to stabilize the ceasefire and move the economic tracks forward, and to be keen to prevent a further slide.” In a press interview on the sidelines of his meeting with Sheikh Al-Aql of the Unitarian sect, Sami Abi Al-Muna, he said that the five-member committee, consisting of the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, the United States of America, and France, was formed to help Lebanon elect a president of the republic. This was achieved last year with the end of the presidential vacancy and the formation of the government. Now its role is summarized in bilateral cooperation: Egypt and Lebanon, the United States and Lebanon, and others. He pointed out that "this work today is perhaps greater than the five-year work, but coordination between the five countries continues through ambassadors as well as through capitals." He stressed that "Lebanon's friends, who are not just the quintet, are still fully keen to help it, more than before, because the challenges have become greater. We hope that we will reach an acceptable end soon, so that Lebanon can focus on its stability and development."
