The Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian, received at Dar Al-Fatwa the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, and it was an occasion in which Islamic affairs and the situation in Lebanon and the region were consulted. Mufti Derian expressed “his great appreciation for the role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is playing in the region, especially in Lebanon, in terms of support and assistance to preserve Lebanon’s stability, safety and unity, especially in the exceptional circumstances that Lebanon is going through,” stressing that “rebuilding the state is the only way to save Lebanon and restore its prestige in extending its authority over its entire territory, restricting weapons to the hands of the Lebanese army, adhering to the Taif Agreement, and strengthening the unity of the Lebanese,” and expressed “his satisfaction with the diplomatic steps taken by the two presidents of the republic.” The government, with the help of brothers and friends, stops the war on Lebanon and finds a settlement that guarantees stability and enhances the chances of recovery and advancement of the country.”
