Aoun: We are facing a renewed war, and the stability of Lebanon is an essential part of the stability of the Middle East

President Joseph Aoun confirmed, during his participation in an informal European summit in Cyprus on Friday, that the meeting represented an opportunity to discuss common challenges and stress the need to reduce escalation and enhance stability.
He explained that Lebanon is facing a renewed war that has exacerbated the humanitarian and economic conditions, with widespread displacement and great pressure on infrastructure and services.
He pointed out that Lebanon, despite the crises, sees at the current stage opportunities for economic integration with the countries of the region, especially in the areas of energy and trade, stressing that Lebanon’s stability is an essential part of the stability of the Middle East, and that his country is ready to play a partner role in promoting growth and stability.
During the summit, the participants stressed the importance of establishing the ceasefire in Lebanon and supporting its sovereignty, while continuing diplomatic efforts to achieve peace. They also affirmed the European Union's commitment to providing humanitarian and economic support to Lebanon.
For his part, Ahmed Al-Sharaa expressed his country’s readiness to contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region and cooperation with Europe.
