Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his agreement to open direct negotiations with Lebanon soon, noting that they will focus on the disarmament of Hezbollah and the organization of peace relations between the two countries.
According to the Axios website, negotiations are expected to begin in the coming days, despite the fact that a ceasefire has not yet been reached.
In response, a Lebanese source told Reuters that the United States must guarantee any agreement, emphasizing the insistence on a ceasefire before negotiations begin.
Israeli Channel 12 quoted an Israeli official as saying that the negotiations "will be under fire," with limited expectations for their success.
