The Constitutional Council rejects the appeals... and confirms the negligence of the extended mandate
Fady Mahouly
The Constitutional Council unanimously rejected the three appeals submitted by the Lebanese Forces, the Free Patriotic Movement, and a number of change representatives regarding the extension of the House of Representatives, affirming the necessity of shortening the extended term once the state of emergency ceases, and considered that shortening the term is a national and constitutional obligation.
The Council had held a session in the State Shura Council temporarily in the presence of all its members, with the absence of Judge Omar Hamza due to illness.
