US President Donald Trump said yesterday, Monday, that Iran has been defeated militarily, and that he has a plan to impose transit fees from the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump, who also said he might postpone the operation against Iran if he saw a possibility of an agreement, added, "We won the war... Iran was defeated militarily, and all they have left is some psychological threat that they will plant some mines in the sea."
He added, "We have an approach, and we are the ones who will impose transit fees from the Strait of Hormuz."
He also said that Iran could be eliminated in one night, which could be the next night, stressing that he would destroy all bridges and power plants in Iran, by midnight, if an agreement acceptable to him was not reached before the end of the specified period.
He added, "We are doing very well, in a way that no one would have believed before. Iran can be eliminated in one night, and it may be the next night."
Meanwhile, Axios quoted American sources as saying that President Donald Trump may postpone the operation against Iran if he sees the possibility of an agreement.
The sources said that Trump would accept any agreement that might be reached, but it is unclear whether the Iranians are ready for that.
An American official also confirmed that there are American doubts about the possibility of extending the deadline this time.
An American source described the Iranian response as extreme, indicating that the White House considers this response a negotiating maneuver and not a rejection.
