A member of the “Strong Republic” bloc, MP Ghiyath Yazbek, issued a statement in which he expressed his condemnation of the martyrdom of Pierre Moawad and his wife, considering that the incident reveals the collapse of the logic of the state, security, law and protection, and the transformation of some areas of the state into unsafe spaces. Yazbek pointed out that the continuation of such violations is in the interest of parties that he described as working to destabilize Lebanese security, holding the state and security services responsible for not taking sufficient action to limit such actions and protect civilians. He called for intensifying the presence of the Lebanese army in the targeted areas to ensure security, and strengthening the state’s role in protecting citizens from infiltrations by Iranian party members inside the country. He also stressed that official neglect and the decline of the state's role in some areas perpetuate chaos and increase the risks of security and stability, noting that these events remind the Lebanese of the bitterness of the civil war and the importance of effective action to maintain national security and stability.
