The official spokeswoman for UNIFIL, Candice Ardell, expressed her deep concern about the Israeli army disabling the security cameras at the mission’s headquarters in Naqoura.
Ardell explained that, since yesterday, Israeli soldiers have destroyed all the cameras facing Mengi Street at the UNIFIL headquarters, noting that these cameras were intended to directly monitor the headquarters’ surroundings, with the aim of ensuring the safety and security of the military and civilian peacekeepers inside.
She added that UNIFIL informed the Israeli side of its protest against this step, confirming its intention to submit an official protest, and stressing the need for Israel’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of United Nations personnel and respecting the sanctity of its buildings.
