The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, under the supervision of Minister Fayez Rasamny, continues to implement a broad program to rehabilitate roads and infrastructure in southern Lebanon, including the districts of Tyre, Sidon, Jezzine, Nabatieh, Marjayoun, and Hasbaya, giving priority to the areas affected by Israeli attacks and the vital axes that serve the population and connect the towns to basic facilities. The projects are distributed between completed works and workshops under implementation and follow-up, and include paving and maintaining roads, treating war damage, constructing temporary crossings and support walls, rehabilitating facilities and rainwater drainage networks, and enhancing traffic safety on main and internal roads. At the forefront of these interventions, the Ministry, in full coordination with the National Authority for the Litani River and the concerned authorities, is carrying out intensive field work to create a water ferry and an alternative temporary crossing from the bridge that was destroyed by the raids in the Tayrfalsiyeh area in the Tire district. The project aims to re-secure the connection between the two banks of the Litani River, and facilitate the movement of citizens and vehicles between the Sidon and Zahrani regions and the Tire district, especially the transport of agricultural products and supplies, until the permanent bridge is rehabilitated and returned to service. In Marjayoun District, the Ministry completed the paving of the road extending from Al-Sawana Junction towards Toulin, specifically in the Al-Fatour area, within a border area affected by Israeli attacks. The road is of particular importance because it directly connects the two towns and provides access to Tulane Public School, facilitating the movement of parents and students, especially during the winter. The works also include the Ebel al-Saqi-Marjayoun axis to address the damage caused by the war and improve the readiness of the road. In Tyre, the paving of the main entrance to the town of Badiyas and the road linking it to Borj Rahhal was completed, with funding from the Ministry and the supervision of the Regional Directorate of Works in the South, in a way that improves the connection between Badiyas, Al-Halusiyah and Borj Rahhal and serves the daily movement of the people. The interventions also include improving rainwater drainage on the international road at the entrance to the city of Tire, to reduce the accumulation of water and its risks to traffic. In the Sidon district and the Zahrani region, the rehabilitation programs include the Al-Mamariye, Khazeez and Al-Adousiya roads, and the internal roads in Abra, in addition to planning the sea road on the Sidon-Seneq axis, and the structural rehabilitation of the Al-Shamsiya Bridge in the Al-Aqibiya locality, in a way that enhances the safety of the structure and the continuity of its use. Along the coastal highway from Khalda to Naqoura, the work includes cleaning roads, water drainage channels, and removing obstacles, in addition to installing protective equipment in critical locations in the Rumaila area, as part of measures to improve traffic safety. In Nabatieh District, rehabilitation and maintenance work includes the Zabdine-Shoukin road and the Ain Qana-Jbaa axis, including excavations and works related to treating damaged sections and improving traffic between towns. In Jezzine District, the Ministry’s projects address the Kfarfalous-Karkha and Kfarfalous-Wadi El-Laymoun axes, and the northern entrance to Wadi El-Laymoun, as well as the road leading to the Archbishopric in Kfarfalous, as part of the work of rehabilitating local roads and improving access to neighborhoods and public facilities. As for the Hasbaya district, the projects include the Hasbaya, Al-Fardis and Mims roads, the Hasbaya - Ain Qenya - Shebaa axes, Ain Jurfa - Al-Fardis, Ain Jurfa - Ain Qenya and the roads connected to Shuya, in addition to the Al-Mari - Al-Dahirjat road and the Al-Khalah - Bir Ismail Hamdan - Al-Mhanahiya Junction, leading to the Vocational Institute. Road works in the district are accompanied by engineering reinforcement projects, including the construction of cyclopean support walls in Al-Fardis and Mims, especially on the Mims-Sector road connected to the international road, and a reinforced concrete support wall in Ain Qenya, to address sites that require protecting roadsides and stabilizing facilities. The Ministry confirmed the continuation of implementing its workshops in various southern regions, according to field and technical priorities, to ensure continuity of movement and keep pace with the needs of the people, especially in the border towns and those affected by the war.
