The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement: While implementing broad security measures in the Bekaa region, an army patrol came under fire in the town of Tamnin al-Tahta - Baalbek during a raid on the house of the wanted person (M.Q.), and the officers responded in kind, resulting in him being wounded. He was transferred to a hospital where he died of his wounds. As a result of security measures in the areas of: Majdal Anjar, Chtaura, Al-Dalhamiyah, Hawsh Al-Umara, Jalala, Saadnayel, Taalabaya, Bar Elias, Rayak, and Kafr Zahle - Zahle, Al-Rawda and Al-Marj - Western Bekaa, 16 wanted persons were arrested and military weapons and a quantity of ammunition were seized. The seized items were handed over and investigations began with the detainees under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
