Member of the “Strong Republic” bloc, MP Ziad Al-Hawat, considered that the anniversary of October 7 is “the anniversary of the elimination of Lebanon and the end of a major era in its history.” Al-Hawat pointed out that he had previously warned against Hezbollah entering the war, stressing that “the decision was and still is Iranian,” considering that the party eliminated itself and its leaders, caused damage to Lebanon, the Lebanese and the economy, and proved that its weapons were useless. He believed that the American-Iranian confrontation had not ended yet, anticipating the outbreak of a major confrontation between the two parties that would end with a winner and a loser, and warning of the possibility of reopening the Lebanese front and the repercussions that might result from that on the country. Al-Hawat said: “We are against resisting Israel through a military faction like Hezbollah, and we are in favor of the state protecting Lebanon,” noting that the negotiations put Lebanon on the right track and restored communication with the international community.
