President Joseph Aoun stressed the need to adhere to faith in Lebanon, considering it a cause worth sacrificing for, not sacrificing. During the launch ceremony of a film about Saint Charbel, Aoun said: “Do not fear for Lebanon, as it has a saint named Charbel.” For her part, First Lady Nemat Aoun expressed her hope that Saint Charbel would bring peace to Lebanon, saying: “We ask Saint Charbel for peace, and may we imitate him, his faith, and the inner peace he lived.” In turn, US Ambassador Michel Issa described the occasion as a “message of hope,” calling for continued adherence to optimism. As for the Army Commander, General Rudolf Heikal, he pointed out that “this is the country of Saint Charbel,” pointing out that Lebanon is characterized by high levels of faith, adding that “no one can evaluate its greatness.”
