The representative of fuel distributors, Fadi Abu Shakra, confirmed that “citizens are no longer able to bear the high prices of diesel, especially in mountainous areas where a family may need between 7 and 10 barrels, in addition to the burdens of electricity, generators, and living requirements.” He pointed out in a radio interview that diesel fuel should be subsidized for three months, especially with the approaching winter, recalling that measures had been taken in previous governments to reduce the cost of fuel. He stressed that "the rise in fuel prices is due to the global cost, in addition to the high cost of transporting ships, insurance, taxes, and fees imposed by the state, pointing out that the last fee on a gasoline tanker is approximately 300 thousand liras."
