The Public Relations Department of the Beirut Municipality stated in a statement, “Based on the directives of the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, the Beirut Municipality Traffic Department, over the past three days, and in coordination with the Beirut Traffic Police Detachment in the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces, continued carrying out the work of removing obstacles and encroachments on the roads in the Hamra area, within the framework of a field plan aimed at addressing the traffic crisis, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing the flow of traffic in the area.” The first phase of the plan was completed, after implementing the procedures set within its scope, and the second phase will be launched in the coming days, according to a gradual work program that includes completing the treatment of obstacles and organizing traffic movement, in a way that contributes to facilitating the movement of citizens, maintaining public safety, and achieving better traffic regularity in the streets of the region. The Beirut Municipality indicated, "These measures come in the context of its continuing efforts to regulate traffic and limit violations that hinder the smooth flow of traffic, with cooperation and coordination between the concerned agencies, in a way that enhances public order and improves the reality of transportation in the capital."
