The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced in a statement that, “As part of its ongoing campaigns to control violations and protect consumer rights, the economic and trade departments in the regions, with the support of the security services and under the supervision of the competent judiciary, continued to implement strict oversight rounds that included electric generators, food safety, compliance with specifications, and filling operations in tanks and fuel stations.” In the south, the Department of Economy and Trade’s tours resulted in the issuance of two arrest reports against the owners of electric generators in the Al-Bayyadh and Al-Shubriha areas - Tire District, for not adhering to the official price set by the Ministry of Energy and Water per kilowatt-hour. The authority also withdrew 5 samples of 95 octane gasoline, sealed them with lead, and deposited them in the specialized laboratory to conduct the necessary tests and verify their compliance with the octane ratio, in preparation for taking appropriate legal measures in light of the results. In the Bekaa, the Department of Economy and Trade conducted monitoring patrols in the towns of Qousaya, Rait, Ain Kfarzabad, Kfarzabad, Faour and Bednayel, within the framework of following up on the kale files and ensuring compliance with the approved standards. Four arrest warrants were also issued against owners of electric generators for not adhering to the official pricing issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water. In the north, the Department of Economy and Trade announced the organization of 5 arrest reports against the owners of electric generators in the Qobayat-Akkar region, for violating the official pricing issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water. As part of following up on an incoming complaint, the Authority withdrew two samples of Nars cosmetics from a store in Zgharta, and referred them to the competent authority to verify their authenticity and conformity, and take legal action in light of the results. The authority also followed up on a customs declaration in Abu Samra to verify the implementation of the pledge submitted. The warehouse was inspected and it was found that ventilation met the conditions and that the goods were raised off the ground. It was also confirmed that indications in Arabic had been added to the “Corn Flakes” packages that are the subject of the declaration. In the context of the legal measures taken, the Authority referred 22 arrest reports to the Public Prosecution of Appeal in the North to take the necessary legal measures.”
