Salam meets with Pencet... and the IMF negotiations are on the table

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant at the US Treasury headquarters in Washington, in the presence of Finance Minister Yassine Jaber and Lebanese Ambassador to the United States Nada Hamada Moawad.
During the meeting, economic and financial relations between Lebanon and the United States were discussed, and President Salam presented the progress made by the government in the path of financial and banking reforms, and the steps it is working to complete to address the repercussions of the financial crisis and rebuild the banking sector.
The path of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund and cooperation with the World Bank were also discussed, and President Salam requested US support for Lebanon’s efforts to advance these two paths and secure the necessary support for the reform and economic recovery program.
The government's efforts to combat the cash economy, limit the use of cash outside the financial system, enhance transparency and compliance, and combat money laundering and terrorist financing were also discussed, which contributes to rebuilding confidence in the Lebanese financial sector and enhancing its integration into the international financial system.
