The Free Patriotic Movement considered that the words of former Hezbollah MP Nawaf al-Moussawi about the movement’s leader, Gebran Bassil, reflect “speeches based on illusions, inciting strife, and provoking the Lebanese.” He pointed out in a statement that Al-Moussawi had to adhere to “the limits of politeness and decency in expression,” and to listen carefully and understand the positions before commenting on them. The Movement considered that the attacks on him and his president represent “additional evidence of the validity of our national position” based on “Lebanon’s self-interest outside of any focus,” pointing out that this position raises reactions among some. The movement recalled Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah on the second anniversary of his assassination, considering that his presence would have “saved his party and Lebanon from many mistakes if he had been present among us.” The Free Patriotic Movement concluded its statement by calling on Hezbollah to avoid “entering into additional problems with the Lebanese,” stressing its refusal to isolate Hezbollah, and expressing its adherence to its position based on embracing the party’s environment.
