President Joseph Aoun congratulated the Director General of State Security, Major General Edgar Lowndes, on the occasion of the forty-first anniversary of the founding of the General Directorate of State Security. He stressed that the agency, since its inception, has been an essential lever for protecting stability and preserving public funds, noting that it has proven that it has regained its health and its natural role with confidence and ability, after attempts to limit and marginalize it. " He pointed out that State Security "has regained its position as a safety valve in the fight against corruption, exposing its networks, and controlling abuses that waste public money and citizens' rights." He stressed that the role of state security is an integral part of the project of building a state of law and institutions, where the perpetrator is held accountable, public funds are preserved, and citizen confidence in its administration is restored. President Aoun paid tribute to the souls of the martyrs of State Security who died as a result of the Israeli aggression on their headquarters in Nabatieh, while they were performing their national duty. He stressed that the state will continue to support the agency and enhance its capabilities and capabilities, so that it remains, along with other military and security institutions, a pillar that protects the country, its people, and its residents.
