Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi indicated to American media that Iran had presented the United States with a 7-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Araqchi said: “We presented a plan to the United States through mediators stating that if certain conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened by the end of the seventh day, and talks will resume.” The New York Times quoted Araqchi as saying that the proposal includes stopping all hostilities for 7 days in the Middle East, including Lebanon, releasing frozen Iranian assets worth no less than $12 billion, lifting sanctions imposed on Iranian oil, and ending the US naval blockade of Iran’s ports. Abbas Araqchi confirmed that he is awaiting a response from the United States, noting that China, whose president is on a state visit to the United States, supports this proposal.
