Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who leaves on Tuesday for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, vowed to firmly defend his country's positions during these meetings amidst the war with the United States. State television quoted Pezeshkian as saying shortly before leaving Iran: "We emerged from the war with our heads held high, and this is a source of dignity and pride for all of us. Therefore, we will firmly defend our positions in international forums." He added: "We will make the most of this opportunity to highlight to the international community the difficult situation Iran is going through. We will affirm to our adversaries that the Iranian people have remained steadfast despite all the injustice." Pezeshkian is scheduled to deliver an address before the UN General Assembly on Wednesday. Pezeshkian is the highest-ranking Iranian official to travel to the United States since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East following US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February. Although the United States allowed part of the Iranian delegation to attend the UN meetings, it imposed restrictions on them similar to those applied last year, according to the US State Department.
