Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that he held a series of meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly sessions in New York with a number of international leaders and officials, addressing Lebanon's priorities and current developments. Salam explained, in a post via his account on the "X" platform, that he met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and US Senator Jeanne Shaheen. He pointed out that during these meetings he carried Lebanon's priorities, foremost among them "the necessity of Israel's commitment to a complete withdrawal from Lebanese territories and the cessation of its attacks," alongside strengthening the army's capabilities, working to continue an international presence in the South after the end of UNIFIL's mission, and proceeding with extending state authority and limiting arms to its hands. He added that he discussed mobilizing support for the path of return, recovery, and reconstruction, continuing the reforms initiated by the government, as well as expanding investment opportunities and cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, transport, and regional interconnection projects. Salam affirmed that "Lebanon is proceeding with fulfilling its responsibilities, and with building a capable state that restores its sovereignty, returns its people to their land, and opens before them opportunities for recovery and rise."
