Kataeb Party leader Sami Gemayel affirmed that reaching the Lebanon that Lebanese people aspire to today goes through the restoration of sovereignty and national decision-making. He pointed out that what is required is for the state to act as a state, not to fear or hesitate, and for the Lebanese to stand by its side to restore sovereignty and freedom. In a speech delivered during a ceremony honoring the 50-year members of the Batroun Kataeb region, Gemayel explained that "we are passing through a pivotal juncture in Lebanon's history, witnessing the exit from the era of Iranian tutelage that dragged our people into a war they have nothing to do with and turned them into fuel for the interests of the Iranian regime." He stressed that this juncture constitutes an opportunity that must not be missed, and it would not have been available were it not for the presence of a president of the republic and a prime minister who hold a clear sovereign stance, and were it not for a unified Lebanese stance around the idea of sovereignty, warning that wasting it will cost Lebanon dearly. He affirmed, "We will not go back, and we will not accept that Lebanon returns under tutelage," pointing out that "no one should think we are ready to accept a return to a reality where weapons can drag us into a new war after two, five, ten, or twenty years." The Kataeb leader asserted that addressing the issue of illegitimate weapons is a pivotal choice in Lebanon's history, and everyone must assume their responsibility, affirming that the solution will not come by itself, but rather "we must make the solution, and the state must show that it is performing its full role in accordance with the requirements of the constitution."
