The representative of fuel distributors, Fadi Abu Shakra, denied on Thursday what is being circulated about imposing a new tax on gasoline, stressing that “this news is baseless.”
Abu Shakra stressed that "the rise we are witnessing today in the markets is due to the ongoing global war and the pressure exerted on oil prices, as the price of one barrel of oil today jumped the hundred dollar mark."
He pointed out that "the price of a can of gasoline will reach about $30 tomorrow morning, unfortunately."
He said: “What is happening in fuel prices is something that bothers us a lot as fuel distributors, especially since we are today on the verge of winter, as citizens are waiting to be provided with diesel fuel, as everyone knows the urgent need for it for heating in this season.
Abu Chakra expressed his regret for the current situation, saying: Every citizen, whether in this country or anywhere else, is the one who pays the price of wars.
