Information reported that communications intensified between President Joseph Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, to try to find a way out of the Iranian ambassador’s issue. Three ideas were put forward that have not yet been implemented. The first proposal is for the expelled Iranian ambassador to issue a statement in which he apologizes to Lebanon, the state and its people, and confirms his commitment to Lebanese sovereignty, non-interference in Lebanese affairs, and his respect for diplomatic principles and the Vienna Agreement, stressing respect for Lebanon’s independence. Then, talks will take place with the Foreign Ministry to implement the solution. As for the second proposal, it is the issuance of a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry in the same context and stressing respect for diplomatic principles and dealing with the Lebanese state with respect. As for the third proposal, it would include naming a new Iranian ambassador to replace the expelled one, and this is what Tehran has rejected so far.
