US President Donald Trump announced yesterday, Wednesday, that he will make an official visit to China during which he will meet with its President Xi Jinping on May 14 and 15, after changing the date of the visit that was previously scheduled, after it was postponed due to the ongoing war with Iran. Trump added that he would host the Chinese President on a similar visit to the United States later this year. Trump wrote on his account on the Truth Social platform: “Our representatives are making the final arrangements for these historic visits.” Trump continued, saying: “I look forward to spending some time with President Xi at an event that I am certain will be historic.” The visit was scheduled to take place earlier, between March 31 and April 2, with the talks to address several issues, most notably easing tension between the two largest economies in the world, in addition to issues of customs duties, Taiwan, electronic chips, drugs, rare metals, and agriculture.
