Sky Lounge Services announced in a statement, “It is continuing the development and operation of Martyr President Rene Moawad Airport - Qlayaat, while recording progress in the construction, technical and operational works according to the established plan.”
She said: “The passenger terminal building has been expanded from 2,000 square meters to 4,700 square metres, an increase of 2,700 square metres, to meet the needs of the security and operational agencies, allowing for the enhancement of equipment and services, including an increase in the number of X-ray machines. The new design also allows it to accommodate a larger number of passengers in less time, smoothly and efficiently.”
In terms of construction, the passenger terminal has reached its final structural form, including the steel structure on the sides and roof, and work related to closing the building and implementing the flooring and finishes will continue. Electromechanical works have also been awarded, pushing the project into a new phase of implementation.”
She indicated, "In parallel, preparations for the runway preparation work are beginning, in an additional step towards enhancing the airport's operational readiness, with continued coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, and the relevant security authorities."
The company confirmed that “work is continuing on various routes with the aim of launching partial operation of the airport at the end of October, in parallel with completing the necessary work and requirements to reach full operation.”
