The Department of Media and Public Relations at the General Directorate of Civil Defense issued a statement saying: “Civil Defense members carried out operations to extinguish a number of fires that broke out in various areas. In the Doura area, the members were able to extinguish and control a fire that broke out inside a shoe factory, before starting cooling work. In the Fanar area, the members are working to combat the fire that broke out in a forest, and are continuing their efforts to cordon off the fire, control it, and limit its spread to neighboring areas, while suppression operations are still continuing.” The statement continued: “As for the Achrafieh area, the civil defense firefighting teams are working to extinguish a fire that broke out inside a building opposite the Achrafieh Center, and reached two floors used to store electrical tools, while the operations to extinguish and control the fire continue.”
