Ali Larijani affirmed that Tehran was subjected, during the course of negotiations, to what he described as a "treacherous US-Zionist attack" aimed at dismantling the country's unity.
He stressed that the steadfastness of the Iranians enabled the Islamic Republic to overcome that phase and strategically confound its adversaries.
He explained that the practical support Iran received from Islamic countries was limited, and mostly restricted to protocol diplomatic positions, with few exceptions.
He pointed to Tehran's insistence on the approach of confrontation and resistance against Washington and Tel Aviv.
The Iranian official questioned the "clear discrepancy" in the policies of some Islamic governments, noting that many countries considered Iran an adversary after it targeted American and Israeli bases and interests present on their territories.
Larijani also criticized calls demanding that Tehran remain silent, at a time when American military bases in some countries are being used to launch attacks against it.
In describing the nature of the conflict in the region, he indicated that the dispute is between the "US-Israeli axis" on the one hand and "Iran and the resistance forces" on the other, questioning the position of Islamic countries in this equation.
Larijani called on leaders in the Islamic world to "review their paths and reflect on the future of the region," explaining that Tehran offers advice and does not seek hegemony, and that the unity of the Islamic nation is the main pillar for the region's stability, prosperity, and the sovereignty of its states.
