Regarding the Washington negotiations... the road is still long!

Sources from the Lebanese Embassy in Washington revealed to An-Nahar that there is still a long way to go before reaching what the United States ultimately wants, which is a peace agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
According to the sources, these two days are expected to issue a statement of intent and lay the beginning of a framework for any comprehensive political agreement.
The first round is expected to end today at 12:15 pm (Washington time), followed by a short break and a working lunch until 1:30 pm (Washington time).
As for the second round, it is expected to start at 1:30 pm and continue until 5:30 pm.
Today's discussions are expected to focus on the political track.
Among the files on the research table:
* Extending the ceasefire: This is what Lebanon is pushing towards.
* Demarcation of borders.
* Return of displaced populations.
* Suspension of the anti-normalization law.
In other words, these steps are described as confidence-building measures.
As for Friday's discussions, they are expected to focus on the security track, including disarmament, the future of the existing mechanism, and who may assume the role of UNIFIL forces in the future.
