The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following report: “On May 12, 2026, an electronic news website published a story entitled “The horror of the two workers... They failed to kidnap a Lebanese woman, so they kidnapped the Ethiopian worker and brutally assaulted her!”, and that the worker The Ethiopian woman was kidnapped, raped, and stabbed with knives, by a four-wheel-drive car in Maameltayn... This news was later reported on some social media outlets.
The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces would like to clarify the following:
On 5/12/2026, a phone call was received to the Jounieh operations room about one of the foreign workers being injured, and she was being transferred to a hospital in the area to receive treatment.
As a result of the immediate and diligent follow-up carried out by the Information Division and the Jounieh Platoon, no kidnapping operation was found. After reviewing the report of the forensic doctor who examined the worker, no signs of rape were found.
By listening to the testimony of worker B. b. (Born in 1998, Ethiopian nationality), and her employer, and confronting the former with one of the witnesses who had previously seen her at the time she claimed the kidnapping, she admitted that she had fabricated this story and had caused cuts and scratches on her body using glass, due to financial problems between her and the owners of the house for whom she worked.
The aforementioned worker was arrested, based on a referral from the competent judiciary.
The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces calls on all media outlets and news sites not to rush to publish any news before confirming its authenticity, and not to exaggerate news that may reflect negatively on the general situation in the country.
It also asks citizens not to transmit such unreliable news, which creates confusion and sows fear among people.”
