Ali Fayyad: There is no need for direct negotiations... and a ceasefire is a condition for any negotiation
Fady Mahouly
Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, Representative Dr. Ali Fayyad: We see in the positions announced by the pillars of the Lebanese authority, specifically Presidents Joseph Aoun and Nawaf Salam, a trend to correct the Lebanese negotiating position, by seeking to formulate a Lebanese position that approaches the Lebanese constants, and drops any reference to illusions of peace with the enemy, in contrast to what those positions emphasized over the past stage, but we believe that this is not enough, and we hope that the authority will proceed with the policy of review and correction, which actually allows the building of a comprehensive national position.
Representative Fayyad’s words came during the honoring ceremony held by Hezbollah for a group of martyrs of the Islamic resistance from the southern town of Markaba, at the Sayyid al-Awsiya’ (peace be upon him) complex in Burj al-Barajneh, in the presence of parliamentary, political, scholarly, social, municipal and elective figures, families of the martyrs, and a crowd of people.
Representative Fayyad stressed the need for the authority to pay attention to the importance of taking into account the two predicaments: the American in its war against Iran, and the Israeli state of serious exhaustion in the face of the resistance in the border region, which the enemy expresses as a dangerous strategic ambush. He called on the Lebanese authority to deal realistically, away from the logic of arrogance, and to proceed with a policy of correcting and strengthening the situation by taking advantage of all auxiliary factors and elements of power, including abandoning the absurd neglect of the resistance, and returning to Fatah. Channels of communication with Iran, and correcting the mistakes committed against it.
Representative Fayyad pointed out that the Authority has repeatedly announced that it will not negotiate under fire, but it always proceeds to negotiate with the enemy in light of the growing campaigns of killing and destruction practiced by the enemy, which reveals that the Authority’s position is just empty talk with no credibility, and once again the Authority is preparing to participate in a direct round of negotiations, while raising the level of participation in the negotiating delegation, in light of the growing Israeli escalation in the south, reaching the targeting of the southern suburb.
Representative Fayyad called on the authority once again to adhere to binding the enemy to a comprehensive and complete ceasefire, and to put an end to the so-called freedom of movement under American cover, and to present this as a precondition for any negotiating interaction, whatever its nature, knowing that we still stress that Lebanon does not need direct negotiations.
