Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa appointed the former governor of Homs, Abdul Rahman Badr al-Din al-Amaa, as Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, succeeding Maher al-Sharaa, the president’s brother.
Information Minister Hamza Al-Mustafa and Agriculture Minister Amjad Badr were also replaced by Khaled Fawaz Zaarour and Basil Hafez Al-Suwaidan, respectively.
The Syrian transitional government was formed in March 2025, following the overthrow of former President Bashar al-Assad at the end of 2024.
Al-Sharaa also appointed new governors for a number of governorates, including Quneitra, Latakia, and Deir ez-Zor.
