Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said: My visit to Syria tomorrow aims to strengthen relations in the fields of economy, transport and energy, stressing that I will work with the Syrian leadership to address the outstanding issues between the two countries in a spirit that serves the interests of both countries.
He affirmed Lebanon's efforts to establish a ceasefire before the next round of negotiations with Israel, indicating that if Israel's aggression continues, the first item in the negotiations will be to stabilize the ceasefire.
Salam pointed out that Lebanon will propose stopping the Israeli attacks, releasing the prisoners, and scheduling the withdrawal to allow the return of the displaced and reconstruction.
He added: The horizon of negotiations, according to our vision, leads to ending the state of conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
He continued: We are seeking American guarantees that will contribute to Lebanon restoring its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Salam announced that Lebanon has succeeded in establishing that the state is the negotiating party on its behalf through its constitutional institutions.
Salam stressed Lebanon's commitment to restricting weapons to the state alone, in accordance with the decisions of the Lebanese government.
