Representative Fouad Makhzoumi said after his meeting with the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, “We affirm our full support for the President of the Republic in the path he is leading to protect Lebanon and restore the state to its full role.”
He added: "We support the option of direct negotiations with Israel in a way that preserves Lebanon's best interest, secures the stability of the south, and consolidates the state's sovereignty."
He pointed out, “What is required is a realistic approach away from the slogans and bidding that brought Lebanon to its current crises,” stressing that we will fully support the government and its sovereign decisions that restore the confidence of the Lebanese and the international community in the Lebanese state.
He continued: "The capital cannot regain its natural role except through legitimate security and the establishment of the principle: No authority is higher than the authority of the Lebanese state."
He also called on Israel to fully adhere to any understandings reached and to gradually withdraw from Lebanese territory, stressing that the adoption of a just and comprehensive general amnesty law has become a national and humanitarian necessity, away from bidding and disputes.
