The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, held a meeting in his office, to discuss the traffic reality, especially in the governorates of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, and the measures that must be taken to reduce traffic congestion and regulate traffic, in the presence of the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, the Governor of Mount Lebanon, Judge Muhammad Makkawi, the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, and a number of concerned officers. During the meeting, Minister Al-Hajjar stressed “the need to intensify efforts on the ground to address traffic pressure in the capital, at its entrances, and in cities, and to alleviate the daily suffering of citizens,” and instructed those gathered to “strengthen procedures and increase the deployment of traffic detachment personnel at intersections and main roads that witness heavy traffic, especially during peak hours.” He gave his directives to strictly control traffic violations, address encroachments on public property and sidewalks, and limit double parking, in addition to coordinating with the municipal police and the Guard Regiment within the scope of the two governorates. The attendees called on citizens to "adhere to the instructions of the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces in order to preserve public safety and to contribute to facilitating traffic."
