President Berri linked any positivity on his part regarding the issue of negotiation and the initiative of President Joseph Aoun to achieving two basic conditions: “The first is a ceasefire, and the second is the return of the displaced.” He indicated that he refuses to participate in any direct negotiations before the ceasefire is established. Berri stressed adherence to the “mechanism” and Resolution 1701 to end the war.
