The Supreme Islamic Shiite Council of Lebanon issued the following statement: The Supreme Islamic Shiite Council in Lebanon received with great regret and pain the news of the assassination of the preacher of the shrine of Lady Zeinab (peace be upon her) in the Damascus countryside, the eminent scholar, Mr. Farhan Hassan Al-Mansour, by throwing a bomb at him in his car, which led to his martyrdom. The Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, denouncing this cowardly criminal act against a member of the scholarly body of the Shiite Islamic sect in Syria, Out of great concern for the unity and stability of the Syrian people with all its components, which we have always stressed in the last stages, While we appreciate the Syrian Ministry of Interior’s haste to confirm that this crime “falls within the framework of targeting religious and social symbols to stir up strife and undermine societal stability, and that it will not pass without accountability,” as well as “its full commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining public security,” From this standpoint, we rely on this position to reveal the secrets of this heinous crime and impose the most severe punishment on its perpetrators, and thus take the necessary measures to protect the members of the Shiite Islamic sect, just like all the Syrian components, out of concern, first and foremost, for the stability of Syria and the unity of its brotherly people. We ask the Almighty God that the honorable scholar, Mr. Al-Mansour, may his mercy rest in peace and that he may reside in his vast paradise. We belong to God and to Him we belong. We will come back
