The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, greeted the workers on their holiday, praising their daily efforts and continuous sacrifices for the sake of building the nation and preserving its dignity. On this occasion, he said: “Our country has gone through, and is still going through, harsh and exceptional circumstances that have burdened every citizen, and workers have had the largest share of this suffering. I am fully aware of the magnitude of the challenges you face, from the hardship of living to the fluctuations in economic conditions, and the pressures that successive crises have left on your daily lives. Despite this, you have demonstrated rare steadfastness and determination to work and produce, and you have been and continue to be the mainstay on which Lebanon’s economy is based.” President Aoun added: “We worked, in cooperation with the government, to launch a reform path aimed at improving the economic situation and achieving stability, before the recent war ravaged the country and made matters more complicated. However, our will has not and will not be broken, and we are continuing to make all possible efforts to rebuild what was destroyed, restore confidence, and create job opportunities worthy of the dignity of the Lebanese.” The President of the Republic concluded: “I affirm my commitment, with the government, to continue working to improve the conditions of workers, by supporting their rights, enhancing social protection, and ensuring a fair work environment that preserves their dignity and rewards their efforts. You are the backbone of the Lebanese economy, and through you the nation rises, and without you no reform plan can succeed or continue.”
