Minister of Information, Paul Morcos, said, after the cabinet session, held at the Presidential Palace, in Baabda: “At the beginning of the session, His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, offered his condolences to the Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Mansi, and the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, the Commander of the Army, Rudolph Heikal, and the Director General of Civil Defense, Brigadier General Imad Khraish, for the martyrdom of members of the Lebanese Army and Civil Defense in the south, asking the martyrs for mercy, and for their families patience and solace. He also extended his greetings and appreciation to the workers of Lebanon on their holiday on May 1, praising their efforts and considering that they are the economic pillar of Lebanon, and that by continuing to do their work despite all the difficult and harsh circumstances, including economic and financial conditions, they contribute to Lebanon’s ability to continue. He pointed out that the government stands by their side and tries to support them as much as possible, according to the available capabilities. Minister Morcos added: “His Excellency the President stressed that he and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam are monitoring the situation in the south, and that he has made contact with the Lebanese Ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamada Moawad, to urge her to work continuously with the American administration to pressure Israel to adhere to the ceasefire.”
