The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, called for the need to pressure Israel to respect international laws and agreements, and to stop targeting civilians, paramedics, civil defense, and humanitarian, health, and relief bodies, while receiving a delegation from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. President Aoun stressed that Israeli violations in the south are still continuing despite the announcement of a ceasefire, noting that the demolition and bulldozing of homes and places of worship continues, at a time when the number of victims and wounded is rising day after day. He pointed out that these attacks did not exclude volunteers, as about 17 paramedics from the Lebanese Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations were killed, in addition to targeting media professionals. President Aoun described the work of volunteers to rescue the injured as “the pinnacle of sacrifice and self-giving” for the sake of the humanitarian mission, especially since rescue missions are notified in advance to secure the necessary protection for them, yet they are subjected to targeting that leads to martyrdom. At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Republic renewed his call for help in knowing the fate of the Lebanese prisoners in Israeli prisons, warning that Israel still refuses to allow the International Committee of the Red Cross to communicate with them and check on their health, in a way that ensures the reassurance of their families and the Lebanese state.
