Oil prices jumped to more than $100 a barrel during early trading on Monday, as the US Navy prepares to impose control on ship movement in the Strait of Hormuz, a move that could limit Iranian oil exports, after Washington and Tehran failed to reach an agreement to end the war.
Brent crude futures rose $6.71, or 7.05 percent, to $101.91 per barrel by 01:04 GMT, after closing 0.75 percent lower on Friday.
The price of US West Texas Intermediate crude reached $104.16 per barrel, an increase of $7.59, or 7.86 percent, after declining 1.33 percent in the previous session.
