Death takes away the founder of “Noorsat”
Fady Mahouly
Brother Nour (Jihad Basilis), founder of Télé Lumiere, passed away on Good Friday.
In a summary of his career, Brother Nour specialized in philosophy and sociology, and taught at the Apostles Institute - Jounieh, before choosing a new, difficult path that, since 1975, changed the course of his life. At the age of twenty-seven, he began an ascetic mission in the heart of the world, living through its tragedies, devising projects and initiatives for it, and launching institutions and work committees for his needs, including, by way of reference:
• Establishing the Voice of Love Radio in 1984
• Establishment of the Church’s Sons’ Gathering to Preserve Morals in 1985
• Establishment of SOS for missionary, humanitarian and social services
• Holding conferences and retreats in more than one place and on various topics such as: human rights, peace education, abolition of the death penalty, and combating violence.
• Establishing the City of Peace in Jbeil, from which projects were launched to eradicate illiteracy, vocational workshops, support the disabled, help the displaced, and work to shelter the homeless.
• Establishing dispensaries - which have reached 27 - and mobile clinics and providing medicines
• Establishing a “Committee of Friends of the Public School,” “Beit Maryam” for gay young women, “Van Al-Majba” to feed the homeless on the streets, and the “King of Kings” Center for treating and following up on addicts.
• Establishing Tele Lumière since the end of 1990 and following its growth until it and its satellite channels reached what they are today.

In this context, Representative Nehme Ephrem wrote on his account on the “AX” platform: “Brother Nour departed to the Heavenly Father. He departed on the day of Jesus’ death. He lived with him and died with him... and tomorrow will be resurrected with him. Brother Nour, Saint Francis of Lebanon, from the first meeting 40 years ago and our journey has been together... but perhaps the journey has begun now... I remember you saying: ‘Don’t say about someone who died, just say success’... Congratulations on your meeting with the Lord.
In my name and in the name of everyone who knew him, I offer my deepest condolences to all his fans, and to all the institutions he served with contrition and pure love, especially at Noursat and Tele Lumière. Congratulations on your return to the heart of God.
