Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that Lebanon is going through a month of a devastating war imposed on it, reiterating the government’s rejection of any military action outside state institutions, stressing that the decision on war and peace must remain exclusively in its hands. He stressed the effort to stop the war through political and diplomatic efforts and mobilizing Arab and international support, warning against the expansion of the Israeli aggression and its goals, which may include the occupation of Lebanese lands and widespread displacement. He pointed out that Lebanon had become a victim of an open war, calling for preventing the conflict from being linked to the wars of others, and for strengthening national solidarity and moving away from rhetoric of division and hatred. He also stressed the need to support the displaced and secure their needs, saluting the steadfastness of the people of the south, and stressing the state’s commitment to stand by them.
